Yazmeen Collazo
Chief Operating Officer
Yazmeen Collazo is a multidisciplinary artist, muralist, and educator born and raised in the Bronx. Her mural work spans a wide range of projects, including collaborations with The Bronx Public, State Farm Insurance offices in the Bronx and Westchester, Per Scholas Inc., the Police Athletic League, Bronx Aerospace HS, and numerous other public and charter schools across New York City. Actively involved in the community, Yazmeen has contributed to public art initiatives in NYC such as 100 Gates, Sing for Hope Pianos, Uptown Grandscale Mural Project in East Harlem, the Audubon Mural Project, and mural festivals in Ecuador and Puerto Rico.
Yazmeen spent several years as an educator with the Queens Museum and the Museum of Arts and Design before teaching art full-time for two years at Family Life Academy Charter School MS in 2019. She has since led in-school and after-school mural projects in NYC through partnerships with organizations such as Exploring the Arts, Creative ArtWorks, and Thrive Collective.
Currently, Yazmeen works from her studio at We Art One, where she also serves as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she wears many hats, but officially oversees the organization's day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth running of its studios, programs, and community events. Yazmeen plays a key role in driving initiatives that empower artists, foster community engagement, and provide transformative arts education for youth and adults alike.
In March 2024, Yazmeen presented her workshop From Pain to Power: Healing Youth Trauma Through Innovative Arts-Based Strategies at the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Service's NYS Youth Justice Conference: Elevating Equity and Fostering Healing. The interactive, research-based workshop explored art as a tool for resilience, growth, and empowerment for young people navigating the justice system.
Yazmeen holds a BFA in Studio Art from SUNY Purchase College in Purchase, NY.
