Sofia Rodriguez
Community Coordinator

Sofia Rodriguez is a multidisciplinary artist and educator. As a youth, Sofia began working at Yonkers YMCA and Blue Door Art Gallery, where she grew a love for arts and youth education. Her narrative and documentary filmmaking journey sprouted at the Creators’ Co-Op at Jacob Burns Film Center in high school.
Following her passion of arts, media and culture studies through SUNY at Purchase College, she was spotlighted as the youngest amongst several Female Filmmakers at JBFC’s 15th Anniversary Gala for her work which challenged familial and institutional paradigms in 2016. Through her senior thesis, she analyzed the role Satire and Digital Media play within the United States political landscape. Her background in arts and media studies, photography and previous work at WNBC continued to inspire her advocacy in media literacy.
Centering her passions in youth arts education, she reinstated her alma mater Gorton High School’s Film Program after the pandemic. Sofia has been able to service arts and media workshops throughout Westchester and NYC. She has also worked with BronxNet instructing Broadcast Jornalism workshops in partnership with NYC DOE.
Sofia's been working hard behind the scenes to keep our programs, events, and workshops running smoothly. From managing our shared studio spaces to supporting our incredible teaching artists and executive leadership, she’s here to help build our thriving, creative community.
