Visiting Artist Series
Workshops and artist-led learning experiences in partnership with Yonkers high schools
The Visiting Artist Series brings artists into Yonkers high schools to provide workshops, mentorship, and immersive learning experiences. These sessions introduce participants to a wide range of artistic practices, materials, and creative pathways while offering direct access to working artists.
Each visiting artist shares not only technical skills, but also insight into their creative process, career journey, and lived experience. This exposure helps demystify creative careers and allows participants to see themselves reflected in the artists they learn from—particularly important for youth who may not otherwise encounter professional artists.
Supported by partners such as ArtsWestchester, the Visiting Artist Series has reached students across multiple schools and neighborhoods, complementing existing curricula and expanding the scope of arts learning. These workshops often serve as catalytic experiences, sparking new interests and deepening student engagement with the arts.
